Intel Suspends Construction of Kiryat Gat Plant: Uncertainty and Optimism among Infrastructure Companies

Intel’s Delay Impacts 12 Israeli Companies Constructing New Plant in Kiryat Gat

Intel has suspended the construction of a new plant in Kiryat Gat, according to reports. The corporation issued notices to 12 Israeli infrastructure companies that specialize in piping, electrical infrastructure, and logistics to halt or reduce work on the project. Most of these companies had not yet signed a contract and were in various stages of negotiations and preparations for the start of work. However, Intel has conveyed in private conversations with some contractors that this suspension is temporary.

Reports from contractors suggest that Intel will continue construction of the first phase of the plant but temporarily halt the second phase until they secure a sufficient number of contracts to fill it. The corporation has expressed its commitment to completing the project, but the current circumstances have necessitated a pause in construction activities.

The situation has caused uncertainty among the Israeli infrastructure companies involved in the project, as they await further guidance from Intel on when they can resume work. Despite the temporary setback, these companies are hopeful that the project will ultimately move forward once the necessary contracts are in place.
