Injured Cricketer Brandon King’s Return to T20 World Cup Uncertain as He Sustains Side Strain

Brandon King is in doubt for the remainder of the 2024 T20 World Cup due to a concerning side strain.

Injured cricketer Brandon King is facing uncertainty for the remainder of the T20 World Cup after sustaining a side strain during West Indies’ match against England in St Lucia on Wednesday night. He had played a quick innings, scoring 23 runs off 12 balls, before getting injured while facing his 13th delivery.

During his innings, King hit a massive six off Reece Topley before attempting another big shot and crumpling over in pain. He had to retire hurt and did not field during England’s innings. Cricket West Indies confirmed that he had suffered a side strain, which typically takes several weeks to heal.

With only 10 days left in the tournament, King is now a major doubt for the rest of the World Cup. West Indies Captain Rovman Powell expressed concern over King’s injury, stating that he hopes King can recover in time for the next game.

King, who has not been in top form during the tournament, could be replaced by one of the five players on standby: Andre Fletcher, Kyle Mayers, Fabian Allen, Hayden Walsh Jr., and Matthew Forde. Mayers, who narrowly missed the initial squad, is the most likely replacement
