Creating diverse perspectives in science advice – Research Professional News

RPN recently had the opportunity to speak with Rémi Quirion, the president of Ingsa, about the upcoming 10th-anniversary conference that will take place in Rwanda. The International Network for Government Science Advice is celebrating its first decade and looking forward to the future. This global conference, which is the fifth for the organization (sixth if you count a virtual conference held in 2020), will be held in a Global South country, with a particular focus on the importance of science advice in developing countries.

During the conference, attendees will have the chance to reflect on Ingsa’s achievements over the past ten years and discuss the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. As an organization, Ingsa has played a crucial role in connecting policymakers, scientists, and researchers to ensure evidence-based decision-making in government. With the conference taking place in Rwanda, there will be a unique opportunity to highlight the importance of science advice in this region and beyond.

Quirion emphasized how significant this milestone event is and expressed his excitement at bringing together experts from around the world to collaborate and share their knowledge and experiences. The conference promises to be an excellent platform for meaningful discussions and networking opportunities for all those involved in government science advice.
