India’s Strong Showing in World Olympic Qualifier: Sachin Siwach and Abhimanyu Loura Secure Victories for Paris 2024 Olympic Games

In Bangkok, India has had a strong showing in the first two days of competition. Sachin Siwach and Abhimanyu Loura secured contrasting victories in their respective weight categories, while several other Indian boxers received first-round byes. The upcoming matches include Ankushita Boro facing Namuun Monkhor of Mongolia in the 60kg category and Abhimanyu Loura taking on Kelyn Cassidy of Ireland in the 80kg round of 32.

India has already secured three Paris 2024 Olympic boxing quotas through Lovlina Borgohain, Nikhat Zareen, and Preeti Pawar. However, the selection of athletes to represent India at the Paris Games in 2024 lies with the National Olympic Committee. India has sent a total of seven men and three women to the second World Olympic Qualifier in hopes of securing more quotas for the Paris Olympics.

Dev was composed throughout his bout, taking control from the very beginning. He dominated with a series of punches in the second round, leaving his opponent on the defensive. A strong performance in the third round sealed his victory and left no doubt about the outcome.
