India has announced a 15-man squad for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup, led by Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya as vice-captain. The squad includes a mix of spin and pace options, with legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal making a comeback. Additionally, big-hitting Shivam Dube has also earned a place in the squad due to his performances in the IPL.
The spin department features Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel, while the pace attack comprises of specialists Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Arshdeep Singh. Hardik and Dube provide seam-bowling options.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had not played any T20 internationals since the 2022 T20 World Cup until they were selected for the recent series against Afghanistan in January 2024. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been named as Rohit’s opening partner, while Shubman Gill is among the four reserve players along with Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan.
The 2024 T20 World Cup campaign for India will kick off against Ireland on June 5 in New York, followed by matches against Pakistan, USA, and Canada on June 9, 12, and 15. The squad for the tournament includes a mix of experience and promising young talent
