Indian Fans Gather in Guyana for Exciting T20 World Cup Semi-Final Against England

India to play second semi-final in Providence, Guyana at Men’s T20 World Cup 2024

India will play their last-four match in Providence on June 27 if they qualify for the knockouts, according to the ICC’s playing conditions. The match will be the second semi-final of the men’s T20 World Cup.

Guyana can expect a large number of Indian fans to arrive in the lead-up to the semi-final due to its timings. The first semi-final in Trinidad is a night game starting at 8:30pm local time on June 26, which translates to 6am on June 27 in India. The semi-final in Guyana, however, will begin at 10:30am local time, a more TV-friendly time of 8pm in India. This is because the final in Barbados will also be a day game starting at 10am local time on June 29, or 7:30pm in India.

According to the playing conditions, there will be no reserve day for the second semi-final. Instead, there will be 250 minutes of extra time allotted to the match to ensure a finish in case of weather interruptions. The tight schedule allows no time for a reserve day, with only a one-day gap between the second semi-final and final. If persistent rain threatens the game, it could face a tight squeeze because a decisive result can only be achieved if both teams have batted for at least ten overs each. Unlike most T20 games where a result can be achieved with both teams batting for five overs in shortened games, the knockout games in the T20 World Cup have a different rule that was also applicable during the 2022 T20 World Cup held in Australia
