Despite missing out on India’s 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup, Gill’s impressive performance in IPL 2024 saw him win the Orange Cap. However, rumors had circulated about disciplinary issues being the reason for his exit from the squad. A report by the Times of India debunked these claims, stating that Gill’s slow start to IPL 2024 was the only factor behind his exclusion from the team. By the end of IPL 2024, he had scored 426 runs in 12 games.
Team India has secured a spot in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup and will face Australia, Afghanistan, and either Bangladesh or Netherlands in their group. Their group stage games were held in the USA, and they will now play the rest of the tournament in the Caribbean.
