In Warwick, Health Care Fraudsters Facing Millions in Charges for Unprovided Services

In Warwick, two co-owners of a holistic health care center, Brandon Nowak and Jason Simmons, have been charged with defrauding federal and private health care insurance providers of nearly $1.9 million. The charges include health care fraud conspiracy, health care fraud, and filing false claims.

Nowak and Simmons are accused of submitting fraudulent claims for reimbursement for services that were not provided at their business, AIM Health Care Centers LLC. The company has satellite offices in Pawtucket, North Kingstown, and East Providence. Nowak is the president and CEO, while Simmons is the vice president, chief financial officer, and compliance officer of the company.

According to allegations made by authorities, AIM Health Care Centers submitted claims for services that did not occur. These included infrared and hot/cold therapy sessions, therapeutic activity sessions, self-care/home management training sessions, acupuncture treatments when the actual services provided were massages given by licensed massage therapists – which is not a covered service under Medicare or Medicaid.
