Iga Swiatek, the world’s top ranked player, has continued her winning streak at the French Open with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Coco Gauff in the semifinals. The two-time defending champion is now set to face Jasmine Paolini in the final. Paolini defeated Mirra Andreeva in straight sets to become the first Italian woman to reach a Grand Slam final in almost nine years.
Swiatek is looking to make history as she aims to become the third woman in the Open Era to win the French Open three consecutive years. A victory on Saturday would also see her join an elite group of women who have won the singles title at Roland Garros four times, including Steffi Graf and Chris Evert. At just 23 years old, Swiatek would be the youngest to achieve this milestone.
