Huskies’ Alex Lane, William & Mary’s Nate Knowles, and Towson’s Taye Robinson: CAA Baseball Weekly Awards recognize outstanding play

CAA Baseball Weekly Awards for April 1

Northeastern graduate outfielder/designated hitter Alex Lane was named the Player of the Week for his impressive week in the Huskies’ 5-0 record. With a .500 batting average, he scored five runs and drove in 12 RBI’s. Lane extended his hitting streak to 13 games, leading the CAA with 46 RBI’s.

William & Mary junior Nate Knowles received the Pitcher of the Week award after going 2-0 with a perfect game. He allowed only two singles over 7.1 scoreless innings while recording 11 strikeouts. Knowles had strong performances against VCU and Delaware, holding them to just one hit each over their respective frames. His ERA is now at 0.00, and he has struck out an impressive 55 batters in just 34.1 innings pitched this season.

Taye Robinson, a freshman infielder from Gaithersburg, Md., had a standout week by batting .429 with two doubles and four RBI’s in Towson’s three wins. Robinson recorded at least one hit in all four games played, with his best performance coming against Hofstra where he scored three runs and batted .556. He also stole two bases during the week, bringing his season batting average up to .259.

The CAA Baseball Weekly Awards recognized these outstanding players for their exceptional play on the field during their respective weeks of competition.

Alex Lane led Northeastern to a perfect week with his impressive offensive performance, scoring five runs and driving in 12 RBI’s while maintaining a .500 batting average throughout the week. His hitting streak has been extended to an impressive thirteen games so far this season.

Nate Knowles was awarded Pitcher of the Week for William & Mary after going undefeated in two starts and allowing only two singles over seven innings while striking out eleven batters. In particular, he held VCU to just one hit over three innings and limited Delaware to one hit over four frames.

Taye Robinson was recognized as Rookie of the Week for Towson after an excellent week at bat where he maintained a .429 batting average while scoring four runs and driving in four RBI’s across three wins.

Overall, these players have demonstrated outstanding skill and talent on the field during their respective weeks of play, earning them recognition from CAA Baseball Weekly Awards committee members for their exceptional performances
