Barnabas Varga, the Hungary striker, sustained multiple facial fractures during a collision in the 1-0 victory over Scotland at Euro 2024. Following the surgery, Varga was discharged from the hospital in Stuttgart and is now recovering at home in Hungary.

During the match, Varga was involved in a harrowing mid-air collision with Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn while going for a cross. His teammates quickly realized the seriousness of his injury and helped facilitate his removal from the field on a stretcher. Despite the challenging circumstances, Hungary managed to secure a victory with a last-minute goal from Kevin Csoboth.

As the team posed for a photo after the match, Varga’s shirt was held up by his teammates in a show of solidarity and support. The medical team will closely monitor Varga’s recovery progress as Hungary still has a chance of advancing to the last 16 as one of the best third-placed teams at the tournament.
