In recent years, the field of technological careers has seen a surge in advancements related to humanoid robots. Manufacturers such as Tesla, Xiaomi, Boston Dynamics, and Figure 01 have made significant strides in this area. However, Sanctuary AI is looking to gain prominence in Europe with its announcement that its humanoid robot Phoenix will soon be working in a car factory to assist with assembly work.

According to a report from the El Español-Omicrono website, the field tests for Phoenix will take place in the factory of Magna, an Austrian company known for assembling brands like BMW and Jaguar. The number of robots to be deployed and the specific factory where they will operate have not been disclosed yet. Sanctuary AI’s announcement puts them in competition with Figure 01, which is also set to begin operating in BMW manufacturing plants in Spartansburg, USA.

Phoenix stands at 170 centimeters tall and weighs 70 kilos. It can walk at 4.8 km/h and has a maximum load capacity of 25 kilos. Phoenix is equipped with an artificial intelligence control system called Carbon that enables it to identify movement patterns and perform relevant actions by mimicking subsystems of the human brain such as memory, vision, hearing, and touch. Additionally, a human operator can remotely control Phoenix using virtual reality helmet and motion capture equipment through its cameras and sensors.

Humanoid robots are becoming more prevalent on the streets and can be seen performing tasks such as cleaning up debris or delivering goods. Notable features of these robots include their energy efficiency, noise reduction capabilities, and eco-friendly design
