Huawei’s Revolutionary Tri-Fold Model: The Future of Folding Phones?

What is known about Huawei’s top-secret project: the world’s first triple folding cell phone

Huawei is set to revolutionize the folding cell phone market again with a new Tri-Fold model, following the launch of the Huawei Mate X in 2019. The Chinese brand is now looking to make a significant leap in the segment with its upcoming smartphone, which features three sections and a unique “Z” shape when folded.

According to a recent patent published by Huawei, the device is expected to have three casings connected to the flexible screen, with two hinges providing strong support between the components. The hinges allow for smooth folding and unfolding mechanics, creating a unique user experience. One of the advantages of this triple device is that the screen connected to the second hinge can be folded out, allowing the third part of the screen to function independently when the device is folded.

While triple-fold devices have not been introduced on the market before, Huawei’s innovative design may pave the way for future developments in the industry. The different thicknesses of the three casings provide a comfortable grip for users while reducing overall weight. Despite being complex due to two different hinges, Huawei’s patent suggests that their design has been optimized for improved functionality.

When asked about their new model, Huawei declined to confirm any rumors but emphasized their focus on technological advancements and product launches. Carlos Morales, Director of Public Relations for Huawei Devices in Latin America highlighted their commitment to developing cutting-edge equipment through new materials, technologies, and applications. The company’s current foldable model Mate X5 is already setting new standards in specifications and resilience.
