Hrvatski Telekom to shut down 3G network in Zagreb and its surroundings, accelerating transition to 4G and 5G

HT is discontinuing the 3G network in Zagreb, paving the way for advanced 4G and 5G connectivity.

Croatian telecommunications company, Hrvatski Telekom, has announced plans to shut down the 3G network in the area of Zagreb and its surroundings from July 8 to 12, 2024. This is the second area in Croatia where HT will accelerate the transition to more energy-efficient 4G and 5G technologies as part of its sustainable business strategy.

Shutting down the 3G network is a crucial step in HT’s commitment to digital transformation. By freeing up frequency resources and capacities, the company aims to improve 4G and 5G technologies to provide users with advanced telecommunication services and enhance their experience. Focusing on faster and more advanced mobile technology creates opportunities for further innovation and improved connectivity, which positively impacts social and economic development.

Users who still use 2G or 3G devices without access to 4G and 5G technologies can continue using their services through 2G technology, which HT maintains in operation for uninterrupted calls, SMS messages, and data traffic. However, for a better mobile internet experience, users are recommended to switch to newer technology devices that support access to both
