How Rochester’s Broadway Shows Boosted the Local Economy by $25 Million and Enhanced the City’s Culture

RBTL’s most recent season stimulated over $25 million in economic growth for the city of Rochester.

The Rochester Broadway Theatre League’s (RBTL’s) 2023-2024 M&T Bank Broadway Season had a significant impact on the local economy, contributing an estimated $25.5 million over nine months. Nearly 100,000 people attended shows such as “Frozen”, “Annie”, and “TINA – The Tina Turner Musical”.

Longtime RBTL Presenter Albert Nocciolino expressed pride in the successful season and the support of Rochester audiences. He emphasized the importance of their attendance in allowing RBTL to continue offering live entertainment for 40 years and into the future.

The season coincided with a $75 million renovation and restoration project at the West Herr Performing Arts Center. Improvements aimed to enhance the overall experience for patrons and increase accessibility, including the installation of a new elevator connecting the Auditorium Theatre and Performing Arts Center. Future plans involve creating a new bar/lounge and upgrading restroom facilities on the second floor.

RBTL is committed to completing all restorations and renovations by 2030, in time for the building’s 100th anniversary. For more information, contact [email protected] or call (585) 653-4021.
