Houston Texans Extend Contract of Impressive Wide Receiver Nico Collins to $72 Million

Texans sign WR Nico Collins to a $72 million extension, according to report

In a bid to further strengthen their offense around quarterback C.J. Stroud, the Houston Texans have extended wide receiver Nico Collins to a $72 million contract. The three-year deal reportedly includes a guaranteed $52 million with a maximum value of $75 million.

Collins, 25, had an impressive breakout season in 2023, recording 80 catches for 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns in just 15 games. His production was instrumental in Stroud’s success during his rookie campaign, where he won Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. Stroud also had an exceptional season, leading the league in interception ratio and passing yards per game. The Texans went on to win the AFC South title and secure their first playoff berth since 2019, ultimately defeating the Cleveland Browns in the wild-card round before falling to the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round.

With the addition of four-time Pro Bowl receiver Stefon Diggs and former Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon in the offseason, Stroud now has an even more talented supporting cast around him. Diggs joins a receiving corps that includes Collins and breakout rookie Tank Dell, giving Stroud plenty of weapons to work with as he looks to build on his successful rookie campaign in the upcoming season.
