Houston Cougars Land Top Recruit for 2026

Houston, Texas – The Houston Cougars scored a major victory on the recruiting front by securing a commitment from one of the top overall recruits in the class of 2026. Keisean Henderson, a four-star athlete from Spring, Texas, has decided to stay close to home and play for the Cougers. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 185 pounds, Henderson will be joining the team as a quarterback.

During his sophomore season, Henderson put up impressive numbers, racking up 1,574 yards and 21 touchdowns with just three interceptions while completing 63% of his passes. He cited the strong connections and sense of home he felt with Houston as major factors in his decision. The Cougars, now in their second year as Big 12 conference members, are on an upward trajectory with new head coach Willie Fritz at the helm.

Henderson was impressed by the level of support and attention he received from the coaching staff during the recruiting process. They made it clear that they see him as a key player and want to build the program around him. During his visit to Houston earlier this month, Henderson and his family had the opportunity to explore the campus beyond just the football facilities. They met with various staff members, including those from the business and academic sides of the school. Interacting with key figures such as Case Keenum and Andre Ware gave Henderson a broader perspective of what Houston has to offer.

Despite receiving offers from over 25 other schools, including big names like LSU, Michigan, and Oklahoma
