Honoring Those Who Served: World War I Museum and Memorial Hosts Special Events for Memorial Day

National World War I Museum and Memorial welcomes visitors on Memorial Day

The World War I Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri is honoring Memorial Day with a range of special events and discounted admission. To kick off the day, a Memorial Day Ceremony will take place at 10:00 AM in the Memorial Courtyard, featuring a public program with dignitaries and a keynote address from Lt. General (Ret.) Wendy M. Masiello.

At noon, visitors can participate in a Bell Tolling Ceremony to pay tribute to those who lost their lives during the war. Then at 2:00 PM, there will be a Walk of Honor Dedication and Ribbon Cutting ceremony where the museum has moved granite bricks to the sides in an effort to preserve them for future generations.

In addition to these events, the museum has also made updates to its main gallery exhibit and added a new exhibit called Sacred Service, which explores the role of faith leaders during World War I. The museum will be open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Memorial Day, offering half-priced general admission for all visitors. Active duty military personnel, veterans and their spouses/dependents can enjoy free admission with valid ID.
