Honoring Donate Life Month with a Pinwheel Garden: UVA Health’s Transplant Center Celebrates the Gift of Life through Organ Donation and Transplantation

Colorful Pinwheel Garden at UVA Health Celebrates Donate Life Month

UVA Health’s Transplant Center is honoring Donate Life Month in April with a 1,300 pinwheel garden outside its West Complex. The installation celebrates the gift of life provided by organ donation and transplantation. As Virginia’s only comprehensive transplant center, the UVA Health Transplant Center has a long history of performing organ transplants, with over 7,000 procedures completed since its establishment over 50 years ago.

The transplant team at UVA Health is focusing on the significance of living kidney and liver donations to assist the more than 100,000 individuals on transplant waiting lists in the US. For those interested in learning more about becoming a living kidney or liver donor, information can be found on UVA Health’s living organ donation page. This initiative aims to raise awareness and encourage individuals to consider donating organs to help save lives.

The pinwheel garden will remain on display until May 1st and is sure to be a beautiful addition to the campus. Stop by and take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the installation and reflect on the powerful impact of organ donation and transplantation.
