Hollywood Car Crash: Driver Leaves Building in Shambles for Second Time

Sheriff Investigators: Driver Speeding on Sheridan Street Crashes into Hollywood Flooring Business

In Hollywood, a speeding car crashed into a flooring business early Tuesday morning, causing significant damage to the building. John MacLauchlan, a Digital Content Producer for CBS Miami who attended Florida State University and graduated with a Communications degree, reported on this incident for CBS Miami. The driver in the recent crash was detained and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. This is not the first time the building has been struck. In March 2021, another incident occurred where a driver was speeding, went airborne after hitting the railroad tracks, crashed into the building and ran off as the car caught fire. Steven Deshazo, a nearby resident, heard the crash and described the driver as traveling very fast, likely losing control after going over the railroad tracks. Deshazo compared the sound to a wrecking ball hitting a building and estimated the car was traveling at around 100 mph. By the time Deshazo arrived at the scene, police and paramedics had already responded.
