The Open Door Health Center of Illinois and Walgreens are teaming up for National HIV Testing Day on June 27 to offer HIV and STI testing at Walgreens, located at 100 W. Lincoln Highway in DeKalb from noon to 6 p.m. The testing is free for all participants.
Those who attend can receive rapid HIV and hepatitis C testing, as well as tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia. Rapid test results will be available in just 20 minutes, while the remaining results will be provided in five to seven business days. PrEP and treatment referrals and counseling will also be offered at the event.
Executive director of Open Door Health Center of Illinois, Perry Maier, emphasized the importance of getting tested for HIV and other STIs in order to know one’s status and make informed decisions about their health care needs. He also highlighted the significance of getting engaged in care early on for better health outcomes.
Open Door Health Center of Illinois has been participating in National HIV Testing Day for over 20 years and is pleased to collaborate with Walgreens for this event. They are proud to have testing available at three different Walgreens locations, including Aurora, DeKalb, and Streamwood.
