In a dramatic finish at the Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup in Dallas, the US cricket team achieved an historic victory over Pakistan. This win marked the biggest in USA Cricket history and could be seen as one of the sport’s greatest upsets. The United States is co-hosting the World Cup for the first time, alongside the West Indies.
Pakistan, ranked No. 6 in the world, faced off against the US team ranked No. 18. Nitish Kumar played a crucial role in forcing a Super Over with a match-saving boundary, much to the delight of US fans at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium. In the tie-breaking over, Pakistan posted just 13 runs while Saurabh Netravalkar led by example and secured a competitive score of 18 runs for his team, ultimately sealing their victory.
USA captain Monank Patel was hailed as his team’s top batsman and received the player of the match award after leading them to this monumental win. Patel expressed his pride in his team’s performance after their victory on this historic day. The US also had a successful opener against Canada in Group A, now leading group with 4 points .
The Indian cricket team is currently a favorite to win this tournament and will face off against Pakistan in their upcoming match in New York City. The US still has two matches left to play: against India and Ireland.
