High School Students Inspire Next Generation of Engineers in Hutchinson Elementary School Partnership

The Hutchinson 4th & 5th grade students are engaging in hands-on engineering lessons through a partnership with the PMHS Science Honor Society. This afterschool program is a valuable addition to Hutchinson’s curriculum, allowing students to explore STEM concepts outside of the traditional classroom setting.

During a recent session on March 21, high school students taught participants about aerodynamics and guided them in designing, creating, and testing paper airplanes. The goal was to create models that could fly for the longest time and cover the greatest distance. The students were thrilled to be able to share their passion for engineering with younger students and inspire the next generation of engineers at Hutchinson.

The collaboration between high school and elementary students is fostering a sense of camaraderie and mentorship within the school community. Sienna Giuseppe, senior at PMHS, leads the school’s engineering clinic and is proud of the opportunity to give back to her community by teaching young minds about engineering.

We extend our gratitude to the high school students who have dedicated their time and expertise to inspiring the next generation of engineers at Hutchinson. Their efforts are making a significant impact on the students’ education and providing them with essential skills for future success in the field of engineering.
