The Kewpies entered their game against 10-win Jefferson City determined to put an end to their three-game losing streak. Hickman’s efforts paid off as they emerged victorious with a 6-0 shutout over the Jays.
The game began with Ada Kirkpatrick scoring the first goal for Hickman in the 6th minute, taking a quick 1-0 lead. Just six minutes later, Lucy Elfrink added to the Kewpies’ advantage, finding the back of the net and making it 2-0.
Hickman continued to dominate the match, scoring another goal before halftime to take a commanding 3-0 lead. In the second half, the Kewpies were relentless, scoring three more times including one off a corner kick from Kira Hoenes. With this final score of 6-0, Hickman secured victory over Jefferson City.
With this win, Hickman’s record now stands at 5-4 for the season while Jefferson City drops to 10-3. Next up for Hickman is a trip to Smith-Cotton on Friday while Jefferson City will have some time off before they face Battle on the road next Monday.
