Hawaii’s COVID-19 Report Reveals Increase in Cases, Reminds Public to Take Precautions to Stay Safe

Health officials have reported a statewide increase in COVID-19 cases while numbers on the Garden Isle are on the decline, according to Kauai Now.

On June 13, 2024, the Hawai‘i Department of Health (DOH) issued a report indicating high levels of COVID-19 activity in the state. The report advised the public to exercise caution after revealing that the state had experienced an increase in cases compared to historical trends.

According to the DOH Respiratory Disease Dashboard, most counties were experiencing a rise in cases, with only Kaua‘i County reporting a decline. Kaua‘i had a seven-day daily average of 12 cases and 84 active cases, marking a decrease from the previous week.

The DOH recommends taking several precautions to reduce the risk of transmission, including getting a COVID-19 vaccine, staying home and away from others if feeling sick, wearing a well-fitting mask indoors around people, staying outdoors or in well-ventilated areas to reduce transmission risks, and taking a COVID-19 test if experiencing symptoms. The department continues to monitor the situation closely and provide updated guidance and support to the community.

Despite this report, it is important for individuals to take responsibility for their health by following recommended precautions and continuing to take necessary steps towards reducing transmission rates.
