Hawaiian Surfer Gabriela Bryan Makes History with Dolphin-Filled Win at Margaret River Pro

Gabriela Bryan, a 22-year-old Hawaiian surfer, made history on Sunday by winning her first world championship tour event at the Western Australia Margaret River Pro. In a thrilling final, Bryan shared a wave with a pod of dolphins, making the moment even more magical. The former rookie of the year scored an 8.10 on one wave, securing victory with a total score of 15.93, nearly two points better than her competitor, Sawyer Lindbald.

During the final, Bryan’s special moment came when she scored a 7.83 and was joined by the dolphins. Speaking on the World Surf League broadcast, Bryan was filled with joy and excitement over the good waves and impressive performances by all the female surfers. She described the experience as truly magical and felt that it was destiny to have that wave sent to her by someone special, with the dolphins adding to the enchantment of it all.

After her win, Bryan secured a spot in the WSL’s mid-season cut and moved up to No. 5 in the world rankings. Meanwhile, Australia’s Jack Robinson emerged victorious in the men’s event at Margaret River Pro, defeating two-time world champion John John Florence in an intense final heat.
