The Hancock Bulldogs softball team recently secured a sweep against the Iron Mountain Mountaineers with impressive performances in both games. In the first game, Brooke Koskela had an outstanding outing, driving in four runs with a single, a triple, and a two-run home run. Sydnie Scholie also contributed significantly, going 3-for-3 with three RBI, a triple, a double, and a run scored. Sofie Freeman went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, while Ella Storm had a solid game, going 2-for-4 with three runs scored. Sadie Biekkola excelled in the pitcher’s circle, striking out 10 and giving up just two hits while also going 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI.
In the second game, the Bulldogs continued their strong performance by scoring seven runs in the second inning and nine in the fourth. Diem Kilpela earned the win as the pitcher, striking out seven and giving up four hits. Freeman contributed again with a home run, two RBI, and three runs scored. Scholie had another strong outing, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored. Mallory Sporalski added to the offensive effort with two doubles and four RBI. Biekkola and Storm both went 2-for-3 and knocked in a run each.
The Hancock Bulldogs will next face off against Calumet at the Hancock Driving Park on Tuesday as they continue their quest for victory on the diamond.
