Griffin, a Tampa High School Standout, Heads to UF: Family Legacy and Impressive Stats Influence Recruitment

Gators secure commitment from highly-rated 2026 quarterback recruit

Will Griffin, a four-star quarterback from Tampa Jesuit, is making waves in the world of Florida football. This week, he received a crystal ball prediction from 247Sports that had him interested in the Gators. On an unofficial visit to Gainesville, Griffin made it official by committing to the team.

At 6-foot-2.5-inches and 225 pounds, Griffin is following in his family’s footsteps by choosing to play for the Gators. He grew up attending Gators games and has always been a big fan of the team. His decision to commit was influenced by his family’s connection to the university as well. During his high school sophomore year at Jesuit, Griffin put up impressive stats with a 67.6 completion percentage, 3,404 yards, and 34 touchdowns.

In terms of recruiting rankings, Griffin is ranked No. 89 overall and No. 7 at his position nationally by the 247Sports composite and On3 industry ranking. Before his commitment, Florida was leading in the recruiting prediction machine, with an 88.1% chance of signing him. Other schools like Florida State, Ohio State, and Michigan were far behind in the prediction.

Griffin expressed his excitement about the offer and can envision himself playing for the Gators and throwing touchdowns in their colors during a press conference announcing his decision on Monday morning at Tampa Jesuit High School’s athletic field house.”I’m really excited about this opportunity,” said Griffin.”I feel like I can make a big difference at UF.”
