Green Home Design Expert: Samuel Gordon’s Net-Zero Architectural Secrets at LBI Foundation on May 11

Final Science Saturday of the Season on May 11 at LBIF

LBI Foundation of the Arts and Sciences is hosting the final installment of this season’s Science Saturdays on May 11 at 11 a.m. The event will feature architect Samuel Gordon, who will be sharing his secrets to net-zero architectural designs in local residences through his talk titled “When Science Hits Home.”

Gordon has a long history with LBI, having visited as a toddler and attended classes at the Foundation from a young age. After earning his degree in architecture from Temple University, he moved to the Island full-time to complete an apprenticeship. In 1992, he founded Samuel Gordon Architects and has since focused on designing private homes, many of which are located on LBI.

In 2008, Gordon attended a conference at Google headquarters in California, where he learned about designing energy-efficient homes. Since then, his firm has continued to design and expand on creating net-zero homes, incorporating environmentally-conscious elements such as solar panels and geothermal wells into his designs.

The discussion at the LBIF will cover topics such as how these elements can make a home more comfortable and bring operating costs to zero. Registration for this event is available online at lbifoundation.org/science or through LBIF emails. All Science Saturday presentations this season are free.
