Greek To Me and Nitro Ice Cream: Businesses Thrive During Unpredictable Weather at the College World Series

Vendors report that sales are thriving within Omaha Baseball Village

The College World Series (CWS) is an annual event that attracts millions of people to Omaha, Nebraska in June. This year’s triple-header presented unique challenges for businesses in the downtown area. Despite the unpredictable weather, many businesses, including Greek To Me and Nitro Ice Cream, experienced strong sales and growth compared to previous years.

Greek To Me, a popular food truck vendor at the Omaha Baseball Village, was prepared for business at 8 a.m., but saw little rush until later in the day. However, their authentic Greek cuisine proved to be popular among fans and they were happy to serve them despite the limited time for tailgating due to the rescheduled game time.

Nitro Ice Cream also experienced strong sales during the CWS, with workers running out of ice cream twice due to high demand. Despite the challenges such as a four-hour rain delay, they managed to increase their sales by about 25 percent compared to the previous year.

Merchandise tents around the stadium offered unique items and workers were ready to help fans find perfect gifts or cold beverages after work. With new attractions added each year, anticipation for next year’s event is already building as Omaha celebrates its 75th anniversary of hosting the College World Series. Fans and businesses alike are excited to be a part of this milestone event that continues to grow year after year.
