Great River Brewery: A Decade of Resilience and Revival in Davenport

Grand re-opening celebration marks the return of Great River Brewery to business

After being closed for over five years, Great River Brewery in downtown Davenport has finally reopened. The brewery, which was a staple in the area for about a decade, had to shut down due to significant damage caused by Mississippi River flooding in 2019 when the HESCO flood barriers broke. However, after remaining closed for several years, Great River Brewery is now under new ownership and back in business.

The re-opened Great River Brewery has seating for over 100 people both inside and outside. In addition to the brewery, another business that had to close after the 2019 flood, Streets of Italy Pizza, is now located inside the brewery. The owner of Streets of Italy purchased the building along with Nerdspeak Brewery, which closed the previous year. Now, the three businesses – Great River Brewery, Streets of Italy, and Nerdspeak Brewery – are all housed under one roof.

Great River Brewery’s new location is at 332 East Second Street. According to their website, the brewery is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays, 10 a.m
