Golden State Warriors’ Trade Pursuits: Could Lauri Markkanen Be the Missing Piece?

Warriors explore potential trade with Jazz for Lauri Markkanen – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

The Warriors’ recent failure to acquire Paul George has led them to explore trades for other star players. One such potential trade being considered is with the Utah Jazz for forward Lauri Markkanen. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported on his “Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective” podcast that the Warriors are still investigating Markkanen’s availability on the trade market and are interested in exploring other options as well.

The San Antonio Spurs have also expressed interest in a potential trade for Markkanen, and teams in negotiations with Utah believe the Jazz may be willing to trade him. During his impressive 2019-2020 season, Markkanen averaged 23.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting nearly 40 percent from 3-point range. Many view him as a great second scoring option alongside Steph Curry for the Warriors.

Aside from Markkanen, the Warriors are also reportedly considering trades for Zach LaVine of the Chicago Bulls and Brandon Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans. However, it remains uncertain who they will ultimately land in a trade. Nonetheless, Markkanen could potentially be the best fit for Golden State due to his impressive performance during last season and his ability to score secondarily alongside Curry.

The Dubs Talk Podcast offers updates and insights on the Warriors’ ongoing trade pursuits as discussions continue.
