Goat Registry Owner Faces Financial Losses Due to Lost Packages from USPS

Owner of small business in Jefferson County claims that USPS problems have resulted in over $1,000 in losses

Tara Lawrence, the owner of a goat registry, has been supplying goats to people across the United States for various shows and fairs. These goats need documentation from Tara to qualify for awards, but recently, the paperwork has been getting lost in the mail, leading to financial losses for her business.

Tara’s goat business is spread across Canada, California, Florida, Georgia, and New Hampshire. Karen Snow, who has worked with Tara’s business for years, mentioned that most of their customers are based in these states. Despite this, Tara has faced issues with the US Postal Service (USPS) only twice in the last 15 years.

Tara relies heavily on USPS to deliver important documents on time. However, problems with lost documents started in February and are impacting their business financially since it operates based on cash flow. Despite multiple attempts to reach out to USPS via phone calls and online, Tara and Karen have received no response. The lost documents are causing significant issues for their business and customers since these documents are necessary for children to exhibit animals at county fair levels.

Currently, Tara has about eight lost packages with USPS amounting to over $1200 in costs. She will need to reissue these documents to her customers incurring additional expenses. WBRC has contacted USPS and they have assured that someone will reach out to Tara regarding the mail delays. Updates on this issue will be provided as soon as we hear back from USPS.
