Forum Opens for International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development in Beijing

The International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development Forum was held in Beijing, China on April 25, as a parallel event to the 2024 ZGC Forum. The forum was organized by UNESCO, the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality.

The main objective of the forum was to promote a culture of science by expanding the reach of the Science Decade. This involved engaging with various stakeholders such as scientists, government bodies, private sector, and civil societies to discuss the vision and mission of the Decade and mobilize them for its effective implementation. Thirteen distinguished scientists, experts, and senior government officials from nine different countries shared their perspectives, expectations, advice, and approaches for implementing the Science Decade at the forum.

The forum also included a high-level dialogue on involving society in nurturing a culture of science. Around 150 participants from over 20 countries participated in the discussions and exchanges at the forum. The event served as a platform for global collaboration and cooperation in the field of sustainable development through science and technology.
