Global Health Sector Progress Report 2023: Addressing HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections in 2026

Progress and Gaps in Implementing Global Health Sector Strategies for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, and Sexually Transmitted Infections: A Report for 2024

The first of a series of biennial progress reports has been presented, focusing on the implementation of global health sector strategies on HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections for the years 2022-2030. This report aims to highlight areas of progress and gaps in preparation for the mid-term review of these strategies in 2026.

While there have been gains made in expanding service access across all three disease areas, new infections and deaths related to these diseases are not declining at a fast enough rate. Despite this progress, many indicators remain off-track to achieve the global targets set for 2025 and 2030. It is crucial for countries to focus on sustainability planning across these three disease areas to continue making progress in the fight against these health issues.
