Global Gold Medalists Set to Clash at Upcoming Ostrava Golden Spike Meet

Caudery, De Grasse set to face off in highly anticipated javelin matchup at Ostrava event | ANNOUNCEMENT

In less than two weeks, the highly anticipated Ostrava Golden Spike will feature global gold medallists Molly Caudery and Andre De Grasse. The javelin clash between Neeraj Chopra, Jakub Vadlejch, and Anderson Peters is also set to take place in Czechia on May 28th.

Caudery, who recently won the world indoor pole vault gold in Glasgow, will be competing at the Ostrava Golden Spike along with top athletes such as Czech record-holder Amalie Svabikova and last year’s winner Tina Sutej. The 2016 Olympic champion Katerina Stefanidi will also be there. Caudery kicked off her outdoor campaign on a high note by winning her season opener in Doha with a clearance of 4.73m at the Diamond League meeting.

De Grasse from Canada, who helped his nation qualify for the men’s 4x100m at the Paris Olympics, will be racing the 100m in Ostrava. He is set to go head-to-head with Olympic 100m champion Marcell Jacobs, Trayvon Bromell, Ryiem Forde, and Reece Prescod, who have all been named for the field.

The top three athletes from the Doha Diamond League – Vadlejch, Chopra and Peters – will once again compete against each other at the Ostrava Golden Spike. In Doha, Vadlejch emerged victorious with a throw of 88.38m while Chopra finished second with a throw of 88.16m just 2cm short of victory. Peters finished third with a throw of 86.62m. They will be joined by an impressive lineup of athletes including Mondo Duplantis, Gianmarco Tamberi, Haruka Kitaguchi and Steven Gardiner at this event.

Overall it promises to be an exciting meet that features some of the best athletes in their respective fields vying for supremacy on one of Europe’s most prestigious tracks.
