Global Experts Unite to Tackle Wildfires and Emerging Threats at Inaugural World Fire Congress

First World Fire Congress held in Washington

Representatives from over 50 countries are in Washington this week for the inaugural World Fire Congress, where they are gathering to discuss tackling wildfires and share advice and solutions. The attendees include fire experts from 55 countries who are congregating to discuss how to mitigate wildfires, retain firefighters, and address emerging threats.

During the event, various topics will be discussed, with a focus on mitigating wildfires being one of the key areas of interest. Fire officials will also explore other concerns, such as new fire risks and emerging technologies and how to implement them safely within communities. The congress aims to address a wide range of challenges faced by firefighters globally, beyond just responding to fires, including earthquakes, floods, severe weather events, and volcanoes.

The World Fire Congress is an essential platform for bringing together global experts to exchange knowledge, strategies, and best practices in fire mitigation and emergency response. With the next congress scheduled for 2026, participants are focused on leveraging their expertise to enhance international cooperation and resilience in the face of evolving fire threats.
