Global Challenges Tackled Through Science and Innovation: The Impact of STI on Small and Medium Enterprises in Cambodia

UNESCO Partners with Cambodia for 2024 Science, Technology and Innovation Day

The event, “Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Go STI,” was held in Cambodia from March 24-26, 2024. It was organized by the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI) and attracted over 31,000 attendees. UNESCO actively participated in the event and highlighted the important role of science, technology and innovation (STI) in driving socio-economic development.

The theme of the event emphasized the potential of STI to tackle global challenges such as poverty, healthcare, education, and environmental sustainability. The Cambodian government’s dedication to STI was evident through initiatives like the national STI Roadmap 2030 and increased investments outlined in the Pentagonal Strategy Phase 1.

UNESCO has been actively involved in promoting STI in Cambodia across various sectors such as Education, Natural Sciences, Communication and Information. The organization’s commitment to promoting science, technology and innovation in Cambodia remains strong. UNESCO is always enthusiastic about participating in events that showcase its impact in the country.
