Glasner’s Secret Weapon: Unlocking the Attacking Trio’s Potential at Crystal Palace

Eagles flying high with Eze, Olise and Mateta

Since taking charge of Crystal Palace, Austrian manager Oliver Glasner has maintained an unbeaten record in the Premier League when his full-strength attacking trio of Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise, and Jean-Philippe Mateta are in the lineup. In their recent match against Wolves, each of these players scored a goal and contributed to a victory at Molineux.

Glasner’s predecessor, Roy Hodgson, faced injury challenges earlier in the season when both Eze and Olise were sidelined at the beginning of 2024. Due to various reasons like injuries and suspensions, Hodgson and Glasner have only been able to start all three forwards in seven games this season. Palace won six of those games and suffered just one loss.

In Hodgson’s final 12 Premier League games, he recorded two wins, three draws, and seven losses, with victories occurring only when the attacking trio started. On the other hand, in Glasner’s first 12 Premier League games, he achieved six wins, three draws, and three losses, with four wins featuring the trio in the starting lineup. Despite fewer opportunities to start the trio compared to Hodgson, Glasner has successfully unlocked their attacking potential.

Palace fans are delighted with how Glasner has rejuvenated the team and utilized the talents of Eze, Olise, and Mateta. The attacking trio has been instrumental in the team’s recent successes underlining the impact of Glasner’s tactics and management on their performance on the field.
