The Giants-Yankees game was halted early when pitcher Blake Snell suffered an adductor injury. This unfortunate incident occurred in the top of the fifth inning, with the Giants leading 3-1. While pitching to Alex Verdugo with the bases loaded and two outs, Snell appeared to injure himself on a pitch.
Snell walked off the field with senior director of athletic training Dave Groeschner after he was removed from the game. The Giants later announced that Snell had a tight left groin and would undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the injury.
Manager Bob Melvin expressed concern about Snell potentially landing on the injured list following his strong performance before the injury. Despite this setback, Snell’s outing was one of his best of the season. The game ended in a 7-5 loss for the Giants after Erik Miller replaced Snell and gave up a two-run double to Verdugo, tying the score at three.
