Giants Add Incentives to Darius Slayton’s Contract Amidst Offseason Discussion, but Base Salary Remains Unchanged

Darius Slayton offered increased incentives in Giants’ contract extension

Wide receiver Darius Slayton returned to the Giants for organized team activities this week after being absent for the first few weeks of the offseason program. The former option was what brought him back, as he had hoped to renegotiate his current contract or sign a new one with the team. However, the Giants did not alter Slayton’s base salary of $2.6 million this year. Instead, they added additional incentives to his contract since his deal expires after this season.

Slayton had already earned $1.5 million in incentives from his current contract, but another $650,000 was added by the team. Field Yates of ESPN reports that the specific criteria for earning these bonuses is still unknown, but Slayton’s dedication to being in camp and practicing with the team should undoubtedly improve his chances of reaching those milestones.
