Get ready for Rutgers’ Blackout Showdown with Washington: Themed Nights at SHI Stadium!

Rutgers football sets date for annual Blackout Game

The 2024 college football season at Rutgers University is set to kick off with themed nights at SHI Stadium. This week, the Scarlet Knights announced their blackout game against Washington on September 27th. The game will be presented by Horizon and televised on FOX at 8 pm. Fans are encouraged to wear black and come early to witness the pregame light and fireworks show.

Rutgers players will don their black uniforms and helmets for the first time this season during the game, and fans entering the stadium will receive a Rutgers Blackout t-shirt. Pregame festivities will feature top food trucks in the state, live entertainment, and giveaways including “Beat Washington” buttons and shakers. Football letter winners and the 2024 Rutgers Athletics Hall of Fame class will be honored during the game as well.

This marks the first time Rutgers faces Washington in the Big Ten, with the Scarlet Knights currently 0-2 against the Huskies all-time. The last meeting between these two teams was in 2017 when Washington was in the Pac-12. The only other themed game announced so far is the ‘Community Game’ scheduled for September 7th when Akron comes to SHI Stadium. Get ready to cheer on Rutgers in their quest for their first-ever win against Washington and enjoy the exciting themed nights at SHI Stadium this college football season.
