The next few days will be hot and humid, with temperatures reaching into the 90s. On Wednesday, July 3rd, there is a heat advisory in effect until 8 pm. The day will be partly sunny, with storms developing in the mid to late afternoon. These storms could be strong to severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain possible.

Independence Day on Thursday will see more showers and storms, but temperatures will not be as hot as they were on Wednesday. A high of 85 degrees is expected for the holiday, with fireworks displays potentially seeing some storm activity in the evening. However, these storms are expected to clear out before the fireworks begin at sunset at 9:08 pm.

Today’s heat index values are already reaching the middle 90s due to strong southwest winds and tropical dew points. It is important to stay hydrated in these conditions. The warm-up is a result of a cold front approaching later tonight, which will trigger showers and thunderstorms. Some of these storms may be strong to severe, with damaging winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning all possible threats. The best chance for severe storms is expected between 4 pm and 11 pm.

As the front lingers in the area and eventually moves north on Thursday, more scattered showers and storms are expected for Independence Day celebrations. Friday will see another cold front bringing more rain and storms on a potentially stronger side than what we saw on Wednesday or Thursday morning. However, less humid air is expected by Saturday morning, with dry conditions and seasonal temperatures in the middle 80s returning for the weekend. Overall, the next few days will be active but pleasant by Saturday morning.
