Germany’s Dynamic Women’s Archery Squad: Ready to Shine at Paris 2024

Germany selects reigning women’s world champions for Olympic squad

The German national coach, Oliver Haidn, has announced the team that will represent Germany at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the women’s archery competition. The trio of Katharina Bauer, Michelle Kroppen, and Charline Schwarz have been selected to compete in the event.

Bauer, who won individual gold at the 2023 European Championships, expressed her excitement about being chosen for the Olympic team. “It means a lot to me,” she said. “I’m really proud that I made it back from not being nominated for Tokyo and my injury in 2023.” Kroppen and Schwarz, who finished third in recurve women’s team at Tokyo 2020, are also looking forward to making their second appearance at the Olympics.

However, not all members of the squad were chosen for the Olympic team. Elisa Tartler won three bronze medals in recent competitions but did not make it onto the team. Kroppen acknowledged that they were all deserving of a spot on the team but only three could compete.

The German archery squad still needs to be confirmed by their shooting federation’s elite sport committee before they can represent their country at the Paris Games. Currently, they have one men’s spot and three women’s quota places available for them to fill with archers from their country.

The next step for this squad is participating in the third stage of the Hyundai Archery World Cup in Antalya in three weeks where they will continue preparing for Paris 2024 while hoping to upgrade their single men’s spot into a full quota of three archers in Turkey during final world qualifier offering three team places each gender.
