Germany Shines in Pool at European Championships with Medals on Fifth Day of Competitions

German swimmers clinch silver and bronze at European Championships in Belgrade

The German swimmers at the European Championships in Belgrade are continuing their quest for medals. On the fifth day of pool competitions, Celine Rieder and Jeannette Spiwoks both had strong performances, with Rieder taking home silver in the 1500 meter freestyle and bronze in the 4×100 meter freestyle mixed relay. Rieder, who trains with long-distance national coach Bernd Berkhahn, finished with a time of 16:15.98 minutes, coming in second place behind Hungary’s Vivien Jackl.

In the same event, Spiwoks finished in fifth place. However, it was Hungary that claimed victory in the 4×100 meter freestyle mixed relay, with Germany’s quartet finishing third. The team, consisting of Martin Wrede, Peter Varjasi, Nicole Maier, and Nina Sandrine Jazy, came in with a time of 3:27.01 minutes, securing the bronze medal. They were just 1.32 seconds behind the winning team and 0.48 seconds behind the silver medalists from Poland.

The German swimmers continue to show strong performances at the championships, and fans are eagerly anticipating more medal opportunities in the days to come as they continue their hunt for glory on the pool deck.
