Georgia Softball Dominates Kennesaw State with 10-1 Win: An Inning-by-Inning Account

Georgia Softball Dominates Kennesaw State in a 10-1 Victory | Georgia Sports

Georgia softball’s impressive performance continued on Wednesday as they defeated Kennesaw State 10-1 in a dominating win. This victory was the result of an offensive outburst, with the Bulldogs scoring nine runs in the first two innings alone.

The first inning saw Madison Kearney hit a two-run home run to start the scoring for Georgia. This was followed by Sydney Kuma getting hit by a pitch and Jaydyn Goodwin advancing her to third before bringing her home after an error by Kennesaw State’s second baseman. A single later in the inning scored Goodwin, closing out Georgia’s scoring for that frame.

The following inning was just as impressive, with Sydney Chambley and Sara Mosley both hitting home runs with two strikes. A Tyler Ellison double brought in three more runs, increasing Georgia’s lead to 9-1 after just two innings. Chambley then hit another home run in the third inning, bringing the score to 10-1 before the game was called due to a run-rule.

Pitcher Shelby Walters earned the win after pitching for two innings and allowing only three hits. The Bulldogs used four pitchers and allowed four hits, three walks, and recorded five strikeouts during this matchup. Georgia had a deep bench, with 15 different players seeing time on the field compared to Kennesaw State’s eight players.

Following this successful road trip, No. 5 Georgia will return home to face No. 20 Arkansas on Saturday at noon in an SEC series matchup at Athens Field.
