Georgia Gains Significant Edge in Class of 2025 Recruiting with Lagonza Hayward Commitment

UGA recruits highly-rated 4-star prospect accelerates commitment date

Georgia has gained a significant edge in recruiting for the class of 2025 with the commitment of Four-star safety Lagonza Hayward. The talented recruit, who had originally planned to commit in August, moved up his date to July 27. Hayward, ranked as the No. 6 safety in the country and No. 11 player in Georgia, is currently playing high school football for Toombs County High School in Lyons, Georgia. Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 200 pounds, he is also ranked as the No. 82 recruit nationally.

The Bulldogs have been making strides in recruiting recently, holding the No. 2 class of 2025 in the SEC with four recent commitments. Hayward’s decision to commit earlier than planned gives Georgia a strong foundation for the upcoming cycle, and it also sends a message to other recruits that the Bulldogs are serious about building a winning program.

Hayward has narrowed down his choices to Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee after eliminating Alabama, Florida State, and USC from consideration. With official visits scheduled with Florida and Tennessee in the coming weeks, Hayward will have a chance to explore these options further before making his final decision on where he will play college football.
