Gentle Giants: The Heartwarming Story of Kevin, the World’s Tallest Dog and His Furry Friends

World’s tallest Great Dane is afraid of family’s vacuum, claims US News

A Great Dane named Kevin, who is affectionately called after Macaulay Culkin’s character from Home Alone, has been recognized as the world’s tallest dog by Guinness World Records. Standing at 0.97m (3ft 2in) from his feet to his withers and about 7ft tall when on his hind legs, Kevin may be a giant among dogs but is a gentle one at heart.

Kevin lives peacefully with three other dogs and four cats in West Des Moines, Iowa, with his owner, Tracy Wolfe, describing him as a “gentle giant” who loves to hog the sofa. Despite his imposing size, Kevin has a knack for making himself less intimidating by crouching and crawling near other dogs. He is also known to be terrified of the family’s vacuum cleaner and will jump and run to avoid it.

Kevin may have an enormous appetite but manages to stay trim and fit. When out in public, he often receives comments like “is that a horse?” and people jokingly ask if he has a saddle. Despite his impressive height, Kevin falls short of the tallest dog ever, Zeus, another Great Dane who measured 1.118m (3ft 8in) and passed away in 2014.

Kevin’s friendly nature and peaceful coexistence with other pets have earned him the title of the world’s tallest dog. Although he loves to chase the family’s cats, he is always gentle with them and if he catches them, he simply licks them. Kevin’s impressive height may make him stand out but it is his kind nature that truly sets him apart.
