Genasys EVAC Technology Revolutionizes Emergency Evacuation Zones in San Diego Region

Improving Emergency Evacuations Across San Diego County with New Technology – San Diego County News Center

A new technology was launched on Wednesday to streamline evacuations during emergencies in the region. Genasys EVAC technology-powered evacuation zones will enable emergency managers and dispatchers to send out more accurate location-based alerts during evacuations. These zones were developed by a coalition of local emergency managers, law enforcement, fire officials, and safety experts using geographical boundaries such as lakes, freeways, mountains, and neighborhoods to create logical and precise mapping zones.

The updated mapping will offer more specific evacuation areas, reducing unnecessary evacuations and supporting more efficient repopulations to get residents back into their homes sooner. Genasys EVAC will be integrated into AlertSanDiego.org and the SD Emergency app, so residents who are already registered do not need to resubscribe or download anything new to receive emergency alerts.

With peak fire conditions on the horizon, fire and safety officials gathered to promote the Genasys EVAC launch and encourage residents to stay safe and prepared. It is crucial for residents to register for emergency alerts through AlertSanDiego.org and the SD Emergency app to receive information about evacuations, road closures, emergency shelters, and more. Additionally, taking precautions for increased fire conditions is essential. Here are some tips to reduce the fire risk for your property:

1. Keep your property clear of debris that could ignite easily.

2. Trim trees near your home regularly to reduce branches that could fall onto your roof or power lines during high winds or fires.

3. Maintain a clean roof by removing leaves and debris regularly.

4. Ensure that all windows are closed when leaving your home in case of a wildfire or other emergency situation.
