Gemperle Wins First World Cup in Six Years in Olten’s Historic Sprint Event

Gemperle and Svensk triumph in quick sprint at the World Cup in Switzerland

In the heart of Switzerland’s historic city center, Olten, the individual World Cup sprint event took place on Sunday. The spectators in the arena provided a beautiful backdrop to this exciting competition. The Swiss team had a lot to be proud of as Natalia Gemperle claimed her first World Cup win in six years with a comfortable 12-second lead over her nearest competitor. On the other hand, Emil Svensk from Sweden won the men’s class by just one second.

The women’s race began in eastern Olten and included sections through park areas before winding through the old town. Natalia Gemperle was out front for most of the 3.4-kilometer course, with Simona Aebersold and Tove Alexandersson from Sweden following closely behind. However, Alexandersson made a mistake near the end, dropping to seventh place while Aebersold finished only 12 seconds behind Gemperle. Czechia’s Tereza Janosikova claimed third place, marking her best World Cup result since 2019.

Meanwhile, in the men’s 3.9-kilometer race, Emil Svensk and Tuomas Heikkilä from Finland were engaged in a tense battle for victory right up until the finish line.
